During the month of October, Mrs. Chasse's Health Occupations II students provided assistance at the Dr. Levesque Elementary School. These students volunteered to help the medical staff who were running a flu shot clinic on October 8, by assisting with the measurement of the elementary student's vital signs.
On a handful of other occasions throughout the month, Health Occupations II students worked with younger children and the elementary school nurse during their annual health screening. The students measured vital signs, height and weight, and were able to practice communication skills by directing the children through the process and explaining the procedures for testing vision and hearing to their young patients. These students also received valuable instruction from the school nurse on how to use the specialized equipment involved with the screenings.
