Lake Region Vocational Center's SkillsUSA Members held its annual "Pack-the-Pickup" early in December at two locations in the community, Food City in Bridgton, and The Umbrella Factory in Naples. 

Once again the shoppers were very generous and donated food and money to this very worthy cause.  One thousand pounds of food with a value of $1000 and over $610 in cash was donated to the Cross Walk Community Outreach organization in Naples.

On Friday, November 20, over 70 Lake Region Vocational Center students attended the ABC Craft Championships sponsored by the Maine Homebuilders Association and held at the Augusta Civic Center.

Included in that group were three 8th graders who are enrolled in the Diversified Occupations Program at LRVC.  These three competed in a short welding competition sponsored by the Phoenix Welding Company and placed second overall losing only to a team of seniors by 7 points.  The prize for each...

This year, on October 7, LRVC celebrated PRIDE (Productivity, Responsibility, Involvement, Dependability, Enthusiasm) with a series of team building activities. Guest speaker was Shawn Moody, President and Ceo of MOODY'S Collsion Center. He talked about all the letters/words in PRIDE and how important they are for success in life.

Diversified Occupations' students use quality products and equipment to completely clean and polish automotive interiors and exteriors for $35. You can also have your headlights, that have been yellowed and pitted by road grime and normal wear, reconditioned for $20.

Students in the Health Occupations program completed several skills on their CNA check list during a recent skills lab.

Infants visiting the class provided students the opportunity to demonstrate performance of apical pulse check, infant bath, and vital signs.

Twenty enthusiastic students from the Culinary Arts, Fire Science, Health Occupations, and Law Enforcement programs traveled to the Colonial Mast Campground in Naples for the annual Skills Student Leadership Day. The students participated in five educational sessions covering employment, leadership, and safety while making friends through ice breaker team activities. An estimated 200 veterans and their families sat down for a hot breakfast on Veterans’ Day, a great day to   get together and reminisce.  They packed the upstairs open area at Northern Penobscot Tech Region III for a free meal made by Chef Herman Ammerman and culinary arts students.  Pumpkin/cream cheese rolls, eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, and pancakes were served up as a way to honor our communities’ past and present military members.   We have done this for the past four...

 

LRVC Celebrates Veteran's with Honor Guard Event and Luncheon

On Tuesday November 10, following a formal flag raising ceremony by Honor Guard participants from the Law Enforcement and Fire Science programs, LRVC honored local veterans at a luncheon. Students in the Diversified Occupations Program made the appetizers and desserts while the Culinary Arts Program cooked the entrees. 

Earlier in the day, the Honor Guard performed an outdoor flag ceremony at Sebago Elementary School.
