November 20, 2009 - The largest group ever to represent Mid-Coast School of Technology recently attended the 10th Annual Craft Championships. Twenty one students from the Residential Construction program participated in a number of events taking place at the Augusta Civic Center. The faculty at the Mid-Coast School of Technology has recognized two outstanding Students of the Month for October from the Auto Technology and PreEngineering programs. The award is based on demonstration of the characteristics of solid attendance, positive attitude, and excellent work ethic. This workshop was presented by the National Head Start Family Literacy Center, and the guest speaker was Kathryn Bell. Lake Region Vocational Center is in the early phases of adopting PBIS, Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports . We want to keep kids in school for as long as we can, thereby seizing the opportunity to instill further learning. PBIS helps students and adults decide which behaviors are appropriate. On Friday, November 13th about 40 students from the Culinary and Construction programs at BRCTC went to the L.O.C.A.L. Garden on a community service trip. The L.O.C.A.L. Garden is RSU #1's district garden where students, teachers, and community members grow organic fruits and vegetables for use in schools. 150 Lewiston Regional Technical Center students recently completed the 10 hour OSHA industrial safety course which was delivered by the Maine Department of Labor.
