December 23, 2009 A recent collaboration between programs at the Mid-coast School of Technology has resulted in the construction of a building built by students to be used by students. MCST started the 2009-10 school year with a brand new program. The Fire Fighting Program is well on its way of being a very successful and popular program. With the help of the Residential Construction students they now have a new training facility. |

LRVC students enrolled in the Diversified Occupations Program learn a variety of skills. One of our newest endeavors is "Auto Recon." We are not limited to just cars. You can bring in a car, truck, van, boat, motorcycle, atv, snowmobile, mobile home, camper, etc. Call and make an appointment. The kids do such a good job, that we are booked months in advance!!! |

Maine Vocational Region Ten Skills USA Chapter has chosen the Brunswick Area Food Bank as their Community Service Project this year. Each month a different program is in charge of collecting non perishable and personal items to donate to the food bank. This month Chef Ellen Turcotte and her Food Trades students collected 70 items/71 lb. Auto Technology will provide goods for the month of December. |

SCRTC Students Participate in Community Service Project
Recently, students and instructors from the Truck Driving, Welding, and Building Trades programs came to the aid of the city of Calais by volunteering their time to help out at the Calais Waterfront Walkway. They spent several days working on setting railway ties, and filling and tapping down earth on the sides of the walkway. See below for some pictures of the project. Early Childhood Education and Learning Center OPEN HOUSE On October 28th, the St. Croix Regional Technical Center held an open house to recognize and thank all those who helped us achieve our goal of constructing a state of the art Early Childhood Education and Learning Center. The Computer Technologies I and II students at BRCTC recently deployed more than 700 Macbook computers to students of Morse High School. The majority of the deployment took place over a stretch of four days, with one grade receiving their laptops each day. The deployment sessions were planned by members of the Computer Information Services team for RSU1 and students from Computer Technologies II. The Culinary Arts class at Region III created a bunch of great gingerbread houses this year! The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce requested that the houses be created and displayed throughout the area. |

Building Trades Students begin assembling the outer walls for the superinsulated ranch style home they are building this year. As the clearing and preparation of the site for the new sub-division winds down the next phase begins.
