The Business Academy -- Medical Assisting class was fortunate enough to go on a tour of the Southern Maine Health Care Hospital. Potential career opportunities within the hospital environment were discussed. Early Childhood Education and Learning Center

OPEN HOUSE

On October 28th, the St. Croix Regional Technical Center held an

open house to recognize and thank all those who helped us achieve

our goal of constructing a state of the art Early Childhood Education

nd Learning Center.  The major monetary contributors of the project

were: The Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation ($50,000), The Libra

Foundation ($25,000), and The Maine Community Foundation ($7,500).

UNITED TECHNOLOGIES CENTER (UTC) DONATES TURN-OUT GEAR

TO ST. CROIX REGIONAL TECHNICAL CENTER

On March 31st, the Director of the United Technologies Center, Fred Woodman, and Fire Science Instructor Richie Palmer, donated turn-out gear to the St. Croix Regional Technical Center (SCRTC).

COT Engineering Student Creates a 3 -Dimensional Model of his Mountain Bike on 3D Printer

Shawn Heyland is not only a talented CAD operator, but also an avid downhill mountain biker. He created a 3 dimensional model of his mountain bike using Autocad solids and then printed out a scale model on our 3D printer. Engineers and designers use rapid prototyping to put a physical model in the hands of a customer and to aid in the product development process. Great work Shawn.

The PATHS Construction Cluster is having their annual Yard Sale on Saturday, May 3. We would appreciate any donations of household goods, furniture, sporting equipment, tools, books, clothing and anything you think we could sell from your S pring cleaning! Don't bother taking it to Goodwill, we'll pick it up! Our trucks will be available in the afternoon after school, April 14 - April 18 and April 28 - May 2. On April 3, students from Lake Region Vocational Center were honored at the State House in Augusta for their accomplishments at the SkillsUSA and FBLA state competitions that were held in March. Biddeford COT Engineering and Architecture students Nik Lemieux, Garrett Dube, and Sam Bernard spent the day job-shadowing at WBRC Engineers and Architects in Portland. They were given a tour of the renovated Cumberland County Civic Center that WBRC recently completed. The day was hosted by architectural intern Julia Edgerton from Wentworth IT and other staff architects and engineers. OHTS students competed in the annual SkillsUSA Maine State Leadership and Skills Conference in Bangor on March 13 and 14, 2014.  Seven earned medals.  Earning gold were Carly Sauro in Advertising Design, Kira Dube in Photography, and Connor Gordon in Internetworking.  Earning silver were Sophie Racine in Photography, Connor Heaward in Collision Repair Technology, and Katie Davis in Medical Terminology.  Earning bronze was Andrew Steees in Related Technical Math.
