Thank you to Southern Maine Health Care -- Prime Care Practice Manager Karen Waycott for coming into our Business Academy - Medical Assisting class to talk to our students about employment prospects with their organization, interviewing skills, resume and cover letter tips and her own career path. Students from the Welding & Metal Fabrication Program helped out at the new CBC (Community Bike Center ) site on Granite Street in Biddeford and the Electrical Program Students completed some work at Clifford Park in Biddeford.


The Medical Program students also helped out at Mothers' Beach in Kennebunk.

BIDDEFORD - Two students at Biddeford’s Regional Center of Technology are designing new seating – dubbed the “Tiger Pride Terrace” – to replace old bleachers at the aging Waterhouse Field in Biddeford.

The terrace could be built this summer if Biddeford wins the national contest called the Ultimate Neighborhood Give Back Challenge.

Construction Students Create a Cherry Book Cabinet for the Law Enforcement Program

Showcasing their skills, Mr. Moore's Construction Technology students presented a cherry cabinet to the Law Enforcement Program. Students Kenneth Plummer, Stephanie Rankin, and Skyler Rich worked on this project. In addition to cabinetry, these students learned basic wood frame construction skills.

The construction program builds and sells playhouses, chicken coops, tool sheds and garden furniture to offset program costs.

On a cold and rainy Wednesday morning, Lake Region Vocational Law Enforcement Instructor Shawn McDermott and students Ethan Green, Jared Jordan and Steven Milton joined forces with the Bridgton Police, the Maine State Police, and the Oxford County Sheriff's Office to carry the Special Olympics torch from Bridgton to Harrison.

A sincere thank you to RN Columbe Cote for coming into the Business Academy - Medical Assisting Program and sharing her exciting career experience: as a nurse in the military in active duty.... as a nurse at Maine Medical Center in the ICU and burn unit......as a nurse at the local jails.....and as a nurse manager at UNUM...to say the least an impressive resume!!! We appreciate her taking time to speak to our class.

Media students Simon French and Ben Morris will represent Maine in the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) "Spark a Reaction" 2014 Teen Video Challenge. They submitted the video through the Ellsworth Public Library and were chosen as the winner for the state of Maine. The winner of this national competition is voted upon online. On Friday, May 9, Law Enforcement students from Lake Region Vocational Center and Oxford Hills Technical School competed against each other in a mock trial at the Bridgton District Court.

The criminal trial, which involved the fictional case of a seventeen year old girl dying after being given alcohol, was tried before Judge Peter Darvin.
